I’m a veteran preparation on going to college 3 months after I discharge from the military. I qualify for full benefits for the new GI Bill. Will I be able to apply for a grant owing to FAFSA and use the new GI Bill together?

I don’t reckon so. From what I’ve read, the money received from the GI Bill (which is a considerable amount) is counted as income on the FAFSA, therefore giving you a pretty decent income and making you ineligible for the grants. But, that being said, there’s absolutely no harm in filling out a FAFSA and seeing if you qualify for anymore free money. Once you fill out the FAFSA, if your financial aid report comes back and there are grants listed, then you are free to use them. Just because you get the GI Bill doesn’t mean you can’t apply for as many scholarships/grants as possible. Excellent luck!
You may be able to use both. You need to go to your state’s veterans affairs website. Go to google and type in:
“(your state) department of veterans affairs”
They will have the info you need, and who you’ll need to talk to.
